This week in Zoom PE we practiced Yoga. Yoga is an ancient practice that dates back 5,000 years and originated in India. Many people who practice yoga say that not only do they enjoy it because they get to move and stretch their body, but it also helps bring calmness to them. This is because yoga also has you focus on your breathing and your mind. In class this week, the 1st-3rd graders practiced Cosmic Kids Yoga and the 4th and 5th graders practiced Yoga with Kassandra.
For your At-Home work this week I would like you to practice yoga for another 20 mins, as well as work on fitness for 20 mins. Write it down in your Activity Journal!
If you need to get a hold of me I can always be reached at: [email protected].

This week in our Zoom PE classes we completed the "Spot-It Fitness Summer Edition" with grades 1 and 2 and the "Guess The Food (w/ Emoji's)" warm-up with grades 3,4,5. After that we set up an agility ladder using small towels or socks and we practiced our jumping and footwork patterns. We learned that the agility ladder is a training tool used by many athletes to help them improve their foot speed as well as their overall body control as they are moving. We watched some videos of skilled athletes using the ladder to show how fast and accurately it can be done with lots of practice.
For your At-Home work this week I would like you to practice agility ladder skills for 20 mins (you can find many videos on the the website here) as well as pick 20 more minutes of Instant Games to play. Since we are at the end of May, send in your May Activity Journal so I can see what you have been up to at home this month. Next week in class we are going to be doing Yoga, so bring a yoga mat if you have one!

This week in Zoom PE we completed a series of 30 second fitness challenges. Instead of having a target number of repetitions, we decided to see how many of our various fitness exercises we would be able to complete in 30 seconds. Adding the time element into workouts is a great way to add excitement and incorporate a personal challenge into your workouts. After our fitness practice we then practiced some sports skills with a pair of socks and finished class off with a game called the Towel Fold Challenge.
This week for At-Home PE I would like you to complete 20 minutes of fitness as well as pick out 20 minutes of At Home Instant Games from the Bay PE website. Write them down in your May Activity Journal.

Hello Bay Broncos! We have 4.5 weeks left of school remaining! Thank you to all of the students who have continued to come to their Zoom PE classes. Let's plan to have a strong finish to the year and make it to class each week!
This week in Zoom PE we focused in on striking and catching skills. I asked students to bring a rolled-up piece of paper or an empty paper towel roll. We worked on striking (similar to an underhand volleyball serve) and catching in a game called Rocket Launch Challenge. After practicing these two skills we then added in a fitness component in a game we called Paper Rocket Fitness. Students were asked to estimate how many times they could successfully perform various striking and catching skills and then completed different fitness routines based on their outcome. For At-Home work this week I asked students to get 20 mins of fitness practice as well as 20 mins of striking practice and write it down in their Activity Journals.
See you this week in class!

Welcome back Bay Broncos. I hope everyone had a relaxing Spring Break and is ready for the final stretch of Trimester 3!
This week in Zoom PE we completed a full body Sworkit workout. The type of workout we completed would be considered a "cardio" workout, because each of the exercises targeted raising our heart rate. Before our workout we took a quick lookout at the circulatory system within our body (heart, arteries, veins) and talked about the importance of maintaining a healthy heart. After our warm-up we got out a pair of socks and practiced our balance, catching skills. We finished class by reminding students to make it a priority to come to class each week and to record their At Home Activities in their Journal.
If you have any questions I can always be reached by email at: [email protected]

Hello Bay Broncos- Wishing everyone a great start to the Spring season!

This week in Zoom PE we learned about and practiced Yoga together. Yoga is an ancient practice from India dating back 5,000 years. It emphasizes different postures, breathing, and meditation.
For your At-Home work this week, I would like you to practice along to a Yoga video for at least another 20 minutes. You can keep using the video we did together in class or find your own. If you want to use YouTube to find a video, type in "Yoga for Kids" or "Yoga for Beginners" and you will find a wide selection of choices. I have also created links in the Bay PE Website "Yoga" section to take you to some popular Yoga channels on Youtube.
Write down which yoga video's you followed along to in your March Activity Journal for this week!
Example: 3.17.21 Cosmic Kids Yoga Super Mario Brothers Episode, 25 minutes.
See you all this week in our Zoom PE!

Hi Bay Broncos!
Welcome to another week of Zoom PE. This week in class we completed a 5 minute full-body Sworkit Workout. After that we made an agility ladder out of small towels and/or socks to practice different jumping and foot patterns. We learned that an agility ladder is an excellent training tool for people who want to improve their foot speed, reaction time, and overall body control. Many athletes in all different sports use an agility ladder to help their performance on the field!
For you At-Home work this week please go to the Agility Ladder section on the Bay PE website and complete 20 minutes of videos. I have different levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced so pick a level that is challenging to you and see how you do.

Hello Bay Broncos!
This week in Zoom PE we completed a 6 minute full body TikTok warm-up. We then continued to build our catching skills by using a piece of toilet paper as equipment. The toilet paper is actually harder to catch than the socks and paper balls we have been using because it travels through the air much different- much more unpredictable as to where it will land. Just remember the fundamentals of catching- 1) Never take your eyes off of the paper 2) Have nice soft hands when you catch 3) Keep your body relaxed, especially your arms and hands at all times. Using the fundamentals will make you better at catching, no matter what type of equipment you are using at home! We finished off class with a 60 second challenge to see how many times we could catch the paper by having it land on top of our arm.
For At-Home work this week lets continue to build our hand-eye coordination by working some more on our catching skills. For 20 minutes I would like you to practice- using any equipment you have around home. You could use: tennis ball, paper ball, frisbee, beach ball, baseball, football, or even socks. Remember to practice the fundamentals as work on catching- you can either play self catch or if you have someone to practice with at home you can do that as well. Have fun and see if you can improve!

Hello Bay Broncos!
As we begin a new month it is important to recognize that February is the start of Black History Month. At Bay Elementary we are also celebrating Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action this first week. Please be sure to check out the Bay PE Website's "Black Lives Matter & Black History Month" section as we honor black athletes who have fought hard on and off the field to bring about racial equality.
This week in our Zoom PE classes we completed a 3 round Sworkit Fitness Circuit. Before we worked out we took a look at the muscles which were used in each of the 6 different exercises. We then continued to practice the underhand toss skill and we played a game called the Towel Fold Challenge.
For your At Home Work this week I would like you to check out the "BLM & Black History Month" section". I have picked 6 black athletes who have used their sports platform to try to fight for and bring about a more just society. The athletes which are featured are: Colin Kaepernick, Jackie Robinson, Wilma Rudolph, Muhammad Ali, Althea Gibson, and Hank Aaron. I also included a link to the National African American History Museum which is a great resource to find out more about black athletes who have fought for equality. In addition to looking at the featured athletes you can continue to play @ Home Instant Games from the Bay PE website for 20 minutes.

This week in Zoom PE we completed various 30 second Fitness Challenges- seeing how many burpees, push-ups, mountain climbers, and planks we could complete in 30 seconds. Not only was it a physical challenge, it was kind of fun to see who many we could complete as we competed against the clock! After that we worked on the underhand toss in a game we called Towel Flip Challenge.
As we finish out January, I would like you to check out the updates on the @ Home Instant Games section to the Bay PE website. Pick out 20 mins of games you can complete this week and write it down in your January Journal. Since January is coming to an end this week, send me your January Activity Journal when you get a chance so I can see what you have been up to this month!

I would like you to go explore the Nutrition page above.
1st and 2nd graders you can watch the 5 Food Groups video and the MyPlate video in the very beginning of the Nutrition page. Think about the foods you are eating each day.
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders you can read through the entire Nutrition page and learn about more nutrition concepts such as: macronutrients and micronutriets (there are videos for these too), as well as the 5 Food Groups and MyPlate. It is very important that you begin to pay closer attention to the foods you eat and the impact they will have on your body and health as you get older. Nutrition is just as important as exercise!
FOR YOUR ACTIVITY JOURNALS this week you can write down some healthy foods that you have ate this week, as well as continue to write down the physical activities you are doing at home. Anything that gets your heart-rate up counts for exercise! Look through the PE website for more ideas if you want!
If you have not yet sent Coach B. your Activity Journal, DO IT TODAY! Take a picture and email it to: [email protected].
If you have sent it in...good work! Keep tracking this week's physical activities and food choices on your Activity Journal! We will be sending them back to Coach B in two weeks again.

Announcement! At the end of this week email Coach B. your Activity Journal!
Take a picture of it & email it to: [email protected].
It doesn't need to be completely filled- just what you have done the past two weeks. Let's go Broncos!
For this week's PE:
We will focus on a getting a healthy heart. I would like you to look through our Healthy Heart Week page and pick some activities which will help build a strong and healthy heart. Any exercise which raises your heart-rate for extended periods of time would count towards a healthy heart activity. There will be many examples in the Healthy Heart Week page, OR you can always come up with your own favorites that are unique to you. See if you can pick 2-3 activities this week which get your heart-rate UP!
Don't forget to write it down in your Activity Journal.
Have fun, stay safe, and SEND ME YOUR JOURNALS at the end of THIS WEEK!
